T-SHIRT PRINTING TECHNOLOGY

Printing defects such as peeling logos can make customers feel uncertain. Since printing isn’t their specialty, most people don’t know which printing technology is truly the best. So, they go online to read, explore, and choose the method they think is most suitable. Recently, Lulo T-shirts has received feedback from over 20 customers discussing heat transfer printing, while others have requested UV printing… So in the end, which printing technology is the best, the most suitable for your uniform T-shirts? Is it digital printing, screen printing, heat transfer, PET printing, or UV printing? Below is the answer for you.

Among the technologies mentioned, heat transfer printing is brought up most often. Why? There could be many reasons, but I’m sure these two are what everyone loves most:

1. Durable

2. Affordable

That’s right. Even for me, someone who directly uses these printing technologies every day, I’m “hooked” on it—so imagine how much customers would like it. But let me be clear: every printing technology has its pros and cons. If heat transfer printing were 100% perfect in every way, it would have already eliminated all the other printing methods. But those other methods still exist and continue to develop—so why is that?

Heat transfer printing can be explained simply: the image is first printed on special transfer paper, then with proper heat, the design is transferred onto the fabric. For the ink to hold firmly and deliver vibrant, lasting colors, the image must be placed on a white background—the whiter, the better. If the design is transferred onto black fabric, what will you see? Only one thing: BLACK.

And here comes the second point—which is both an advantage and a disadvantage of heat transfer printing. The ink used in this method only bonds strongly with synthetic fibers, particularly polyester. The higher the polyester content, the better and more durable the print. On the other hand, if you print on pure white 100% cotton fabric, after just one wash, the ink will start “breaking up”—fading in patches and looking inconsistent.

With over 15 years of experience in uniform T-shirt printing, we confidently say that no printing technology is flawless. Don’t believe overly optimistic claims or poorly informed advice that one method is “the ultimate best.” If you’re choosing a printing provider, listen to their consultation and entrust them with selecting the right technology for your fabric, color, and design. Don’t “force” them to use a specific method—because they are the ones who truly know which option works best for your case.

We wish you success in finding the “perfect match” for printing your logo and designs on your uniform T-shirts.
